Keller Norland, a Crescent Valley High (Corvallis OR) senior and member of the Timberhill Harriers, joins DyeStat editor Doug Binder, along with his coach, Tyler Bushnell, to discuss his victory at the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships in Kentucky. Norland won the boys 15-18 age group race in 15:14.7 and won by more than 20 seconds. Norland is a triathlete who has devoted much of his training to running this year during the pandemic. Oregon did not have an official high school cross country season but Norland and others in the state made the most of limited opportunities. Norland, who grew three inches in the past year, competed three times this fall and won all three races. Bushnell, the head cross country coach at Crescent Valley, was a two-time Junior Olympics national champion in cross country for the Timberhill Harriers, which is a club comprised mostly of runners in the Corvallis and Philomath areas.
